How to eat 4/9 of a pizza
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two players want to eat a sliced pizza by alternately picking its pieces. The pieces may be of various sizes. After the first piece is eaten every subsequently picked piece must be adjacent to some previously eaten. We provide a strategy for the starting player to eat 4 9 of the total size of the pizza. This is best possible and settles a conjecture of Peter Winkler.

متن کاملTo eat or not to eat. The effects of expectancy on reactivity to food cues.
Cue reactivity may be determined by the ability of cues to evoke expectations that a reward will be imminently received. To test this possibility, the current study examined the effects of manipulating expectations about the receipt of food (pizza) on self-reported and physiological responses to pizza cues, and attentional bias to pizza pictures. It was predicted that expecting to eat pizza wou...
متن کاملHow does food-cue exposure lead to larger meal sizes?
Exposure to the sight and smell of food influences our momentary desire to consume it. This study explored the process by which cue exposure promotes greater consumption of food. Three hypotheses were explored, cue exposure: (i) increases the planned consumption of food; (ii) increases tolerance of larger portion sizes; (iii) arrests the development of satiety. Female participants (n 50) were e...
متن کاملSolution of Peter Winkler's Pizza Problem
Bob cuts a pizza into slices of not necessarily equal size and shares it with Alice by alternately taking turns. One slice is taken in each turn. The first turn is Alice’s. She may choose any of the slices. In all other turns only those slices can be chosen that have a neighbor slice already eaten. We prove a conjecture of Peter Winkler by showing that Alice has a strategy for obtaining 4/9 of ...

A total of 90 random samples of ready to-eat-pastry foods of meat pie, meat pizza and pasta pashamil. 30 samples of each were collected from different fast foods services at Kalyobia governorate to be examined bacteriologically for detection of pathogenic Escherichia coli microorganisms. The obtained results indicate that incidence of E.coli isolated from examined samples of pastry foods were 2...
